| Becoming part of the Legacy... joining the FMC |

To our rising Freshmen (er… Freshpeople):
Hi! This is Mr. Boyd, Director of Bands at
“Tell them that at PA, Band is Fun!”
… And I honestly can’t think of a better way to start this letter. There are no words I can use to describe the experiences you will have over the next few years as a member of our family, the Princess Anne High School Band Program. Band to this point has been fun for you… but band from now on is going to be so incredible that fun itself takes on a whole new meaning. It now stands for working hard, becoming one team, setting lofty goals towards which we work, committing yourself to Excellence, it stands for our motto with the Band Program here – “Unity with Pride.” Honestly, the kids and I are trying to think of the right words to describe it… but there just aren’t enough words to encompass what you experience in our group. If there were some word we could use that was fully descriptive, we wouldn’t have to sit down and try to convey our thoughts in so many different ways or feelings or emotions. Band at PA, quite simply, is something you just have to experience. Regardless of whether or not you intend to march with the FMC, please -- make sure that you attend one of our rehearsals before making a decision. Too many young people simply dismiss the high school marching arts as “oh they play at football games.” Well, of course we do. And the group competes -- and its fun… in the ways we talked about earlier. But that, guys, is just the beginning. My phone in the band room is open for any questions or comments you may have. We have a good band here, but we have room for more and we overlook no one. Give me a call, or drop me a line on the email. I assure you this… band… as you know it… is about to kick into another level. Thanks for your time, John A. Boyd ![]() Which section of the FMC is right for you?
